Web Land

What are we doing online? GregVail.com has really branched out and it could look weird at first glance. People ask why so many web sites? What are you doing?

There is a good reason and marketing plan behind it all. To be fair, the plan is made up as we go, but continues to make good sense and develops as we go.

www.gregvail.com was originally designed by a friend in Northern California. I was working on my first CD and did not want to go to press with the art work with out a Post Office Box Address and an email / web site address. I knew I needed to include this information on the CD Booklets and it seemed really stupid not to since I was paying for it myself.

I called that friend up North and asked her to buy the web site name thing so I could include it in the Art Work. I had NO IDEA what I was doing and have no idea how I could have figured it out back then. I was in the studio every day working on the music and just told her to do it and send me the bill.

She bought GregVail.com for me and sent me the bill. Then emailed me about 3 weeks later with a link to look at some ideas I could use for a website whenever I was ready. Looking back now, it was a very basic site but was also totally exciting. It was stuff about me on the Internet. I told her to do more and I would pay if I could.

www.GregVail.com was born and had a webmaster!! Those where exciting days because this was all so new to me. Greg Vail Music was born, a first CD on my own 'Label' was released, a business PO Box, letterhead, Web Site, radio promotion, and I was feeling really good about the Music Business.

Then something happened that really messed me up. My first CD did great! It recouped in a matter of weeks and I was ready to pick up the deed for the Music World to have it signed over to my name. You can read about the Christmas, The Hymns CD story at www.gregvail.com/sys-tmpl/bthemakingofb/
