DC day 3-4
OPPPS - Had to bail in the middle of talking about DC. I was bailing on my friends as we left off - Monday in DC -
They all went into the National Art Museum and I kept walking. I wanted to see more of the monuments and architecture and hanging in another museum was not the call. I took off toward the Washington Monument and took pics as I walked around of cool buildings.
As I got to the Washington I realized I could not get a tour and I pretty much looked and ran. I did some pics and vid from there since it seems to be the middle of the mall - Downtown would be my term for the area.
It was raining and cold the whole time, but as the sun starting setting I arrived at a favorite for me - The Lincoln Monument.
It was warmer out of the rain and I spent a good half hour there before realizing I had to get back for the last shuttle and I was about 2 miles away. I took lots of pics and video, nearly missed the shuttle and was very wet and tired from a really long walk! We did dinner at the hotel and I got online for a bit before crashing.
Today - 615 call time AM! Really fun morning comedy guy many of you know!
Tim Hawkins and his million hit youtube video -
Liked him a lot! Christian Guy! Very funny! Pretty irreverent! Very witty! Said stuff that made people think.....
I got a pic with him - I can only hope to catch that virus and go viral on my youtubes too!!
SO - bailed on everybody after lunch and went looking for adventure again!
Meet a couple in the lobby and decided to split cab fair to downtown - blam - I was on my way. The Museums close at 5 and 530 so I went toward a museum first. American History was cool, and said it had Black Stuff and Instruments! I was all into that so I spent a good hour there, took pics of lots of the trains and cars. Lincoln exhibit was awesome - Lincoln's top hat, his pocket watch of details of the added writing repair guys had added, and even his blood from a sleeve of an actress at the theater that ran water up to help Lincoln after he was shot.
Hit the INSTRUMENTS and was not happy with the few stringed instruments they had - very small room and some of the few pieces they had where on loan - pretty lame. I did get a pic of Dorothy's ruby slippers. The black history stuff was pretty lame too.Very little jazz, very little anything really.... The Lincoln stuff saved it for me....
Hit the Natural History Museum until they kicked me out - really cool stuff.... Got about a half hour there - not nearly enough time. Started off toward the Jefferson Memorial. Got to the lake (river/not sure) and decided to go even if it was getting dark. Had to walk way around the back side and found out it was under repair/construction and closed. So, I went as close as I could get, up the stairs right up to the uniformed guy saying it was closed. I took a couple of pics in the dark and started back - now in the dark and very cold!
I got around the Washington side of Jefferson and had 2 helicopters fly right over my head and over to the White House off in the distance. Of course I know it had to be the Obama clan, but I was too cold to head over to the house and see if there was some party I could sneak into. I grabbed a cab - had dinner with Tom Brooks and Matt Campbell - great conversation - looked thru a few of the pics - hit the room - I hit the web - you are now completely caught up....
Love DC! Love my Chick-Fil-A!! Love my musician friends! Love the Snow! Love the Cold! Love heading home tomorrow night!
I Will post as I get the time! Thanks for dropping in!
