Christina TV Taping - Henson Studios Hollywood CA
Awesome weekend just passed! I have been working hard on learning new music and taking every new project I can these days! I had my usual Thursday - Sunday morning gigs and added some sit in stuff to keep it over the top Wednesday and late Thursday after my club gig. I am really enjoying hitting the sax real hard again and playing as much as I can!
Sunday I did the morning services and ran off to LA for a long rehearsal with a new Latin Artist - Christina. She is beautiful, sings great and is a totally sweet girl! I expect 2 out of 3 and was very happy to find all 3 things in a singer!! She had an amazing band that my buddy Julio Figueroa put together!
Julio plays drums and we had Will Phillips Percussion, Daniel Baker Bass, Marco Godoy Keyboards, Todd and Richard Maranon on Guitars, Greg Vail Sax and Christina on Vocals! What a band!!!
The gig was for Walmart Latin, taping 3 songs from her upcoming CD live in the studio - video and audio. We recorded at Henson Studios in Studio A. Jim Henson was the creator of the Muppet's and bought the old A&M Studios years back. This was a first class facility and an awesome history and creative vibe seemed to be everywhere. It was great to see a classic landmark studio bustling with activity when so many have gone away this past few years!!!

Christina took second on American Idol Latin and has a great fan base from that exposure! The songs Christina picked were great - as far as I could tell - Spanish
The video crew was first class broadcast stuff and footage looked amazing! The studio got an amazing sound and the performances seemed magical! I had a ball! Played EWI on 2 songs and Tenor sax on the third. It was a pretty dang perfect day all the way around!
I got pics posted on my FLICKr of mostly the band guys and 1 of me and Christina (above). Click the pic or this link to the Christina TV Taping Set.
I also got a minute of Video during the sound check of just some jazz jam thing. It went on for a while but I had to jump in and the video is just of the guys - no Greg
-- Wish I had set up for more....
Hope this girl goes right to the top and maintains that sweet spirit!!
Did post one other DC video of some of the silly fun at the Chick-Fil-A conference if you want to peak - This drum thing was really fun.... I have been playing around with a B Channel on YouTube just for fun and sharing with friends - http://www.youtube.com/barnyardsax
Other than that fun - actually got locked IN my house today. Yes it is possible. It was a screw that was loose and took my hours to get it pulled out of the door jam. I am not blond and it was not because I lost my keys
- -- Good news - went to the Chiropractor today and he said that was the best my back has looked since that accident 2 months ago!! Only 2 times this week!! So glad it is starting to heal up and the headaches have all but stopped!
Got to get some time in on my EWI - late night practice that makes no noise! Gotta love that!
Happy Saint Patrick's Day - Wed 17th!!!!
May the luck of the Irish bless you with the gold of a king....
