Greg Vail Pro Jam - Ben Vail Zambia
Hey y'all! Greg Vail here - flying high after an amazing night of music and purpose last night!!
I hosted my Pro Jam at Gentile's in Coto de Caza last night and it was a huge event! Not because of me or even because of the great music but because of the awesome people that attended and the amazing musicians that played there butts off!!
I have been hosting this Jam 1 Sunday a month - but this month was something really special! My son Ben Vail was out to share his heart for Zambia and his plans to spend the summer there working with Orphans. YES - my son is pretty amazing! Ben played Bass on 2 songs - sounded really amazing!! He then shared for a few minutes with a club full of people about his trip and heart to help Zambia.
Not only did he play his bass great, but he got up in front of a large group and talked with passion and ease! I was so impressed and sooooo proud! I had not played with Ben in years and had not even heard him play his bass since he started at CSUN. That was an awesome treat for his old dad!!
BUT WAIT -- THERE IS MORE!
I had my sweet little 10 years old daughter - Vanessa Vail sang Somewhere Over the Rainbow with Ben filling the Bass Chair!! This was a first time event - Ben and Vanessa sharing the stage!! I have to tell you - I was totally freaking! Vanessa sang with no fear and like a pro. She is a natural! I was going over the form with her and she was all, "I KNOW ~ I KNOW!" So off we went and she did know and did great! I even saw Ben grinning from ear to ear as he had never heard her sing. <Ben and Vanessa have different moms and see each other some - but not near as much since Ben started college>
It was a special - history making night for the Vail family!!
YES - I do have some video and audio and need to look thru it and see what I have so I can post something!
Some of you reading and following the post thus far might be asking - SO HOW DID HE DO?? We gave people the opportunity to contribute to Ben's trip to Zambia and people gave from the heart! Ben raised one thousand and twenty dollars last night!! $$1020.00
He was so excited to see people respond like that and I was so pleased to see Ben get to see God provide like only He can do! It is not like Ben doesn't have a ton of Faith to even take on 6k in commitments to bless strangers in a far away land - but add his attitude - not worried - God will provide! I found myself saying, "I need to grow up to be more like my son" over and over again last night!!
<* Proud - Excited - Moved - Impressed - Blessed - Inspired - Challenged - Blown Away *>
OK - you get it! Wanted to share and brag for a second!
My KIDS ROCK!! BE encouraged and look up in times of difficulty! God is GOOD
THE PRO JAM - 20 amazing musicians - 4 1/2 hours of first class LIVE MUSIC with a full band! NEXT JAM - May 2nd - First Sunday of the Month! Hope to see you there
